About Trasi – Maravanthe
One of the world’s most scenic highways with the sea on one side and a river on the other.
Trasi is a seaside village on NH-66 (formerly NH-17). It offers a uniquely spectacular view: the Suparnika River flows on one side of the road, and the Arabian Sea crashes on the other. It is a photographer's paradise. Maravanthe is a nearby beach famous for its island resort.
History & Significance
There is no major mythological history specific to Maravanthe, but it has been a significant point on the coastal trade route.
The Maraswamy temple near the beach contains three garbha grihas, which is quite unique. It is dedicated to Varaha (Boar incarnation of Vishnu) and is known as the Varaha Swami Temple.
The highway itself is an engineering marvel, reinforced to withstand the river and the sea for decades.
